A34 Wolvercote Viaduct Replacement Scheme – High Containment (Hill & Smith Group – Varley & Gulliver)
MSL were awarded the specialist fencing works package for the scheme by Costain which involved a staged installation of vehicle restraint barriers, temporary barrier’s, and high containment barriers at the A34 Wolvercote Viaduct.
The Highways England scheme was to replace the 45year old bridge spanning the Birmingham Mainline Railway, Oxford Canal and A40 Northern Bypass. The scheme involved a sideways switch of a 250lm long x 11m wide bridge deck over 16lm from its temporary built location to its final position over a weekend closure in March 2010.
MSL were tasked with providing technical assistance early in the design stage, the sourcing of compatible systems suitable for the needs of the scheme. And ultimately delivering the installation of the permanent and temporary barriers.
MSL approached the Hill & Smith Group as its preferred supply chain partner and the products used included VG Guard H4a High Containment Parapets, N2 Vehicle Parapet, Flexbeam Safety Barrier’s and permanent Varioguard barriers, more commonly used as temporary vehicle barriers.
The scheme was competed successfully to programme.

QE11 Bridge Pylon Protection Scheme – High Containment (Sistema UK)
MSL were awarded the contract to supply and install high containment barrier to protect the 4 No bridge pylons at the QE11 crossing for Jackson Civil Engineering.
MSL carried out the installation of 4 individual lengths of Sistema Steelguard H4a & transitions into existing N2 barriers. In bolt down panel form under temporary night-time lane closures.
The works were completed to programme and due to the short installation times for this product MSL and the client were able to minimise any disruption to the end road user on a high-profile scheme.

M56 Sharston – High Containment Vehicle Restraint Barriers
MSL completed the installation of 980lm of H2/W1 high containment vehicle restraint barrier, more than 10,00lm of Flexbeam barriers & 40 No Transflex transitions at the M56 Sharston during late 2018 early 2019. Scheme value £1.436m
Works completed to successfully to programme.
